Preparing to go to the emergency clinic

Let’s prepare the items you will take to the hospital

  • □ Health insurance card
  • □ Medical expenses deduction certificate (infant)
  • □ Maternal and Child Handbook
  • □ Medication Handbook
  • □ Body temperature tracking notes
  • □ Change of clothes, diapers
  • □ Money

Let’s be careful when going to the hospital

  • 1. Check sources of fire before leaving home!
  • 2. Don't forget to close your door!
  • 3. Watch out for traffic accidents!

Points to check during cough and wheezing

  • First, observe the color of the lips!

    • If your child’s lips are clearly dark red or purple when crying, whether or not accompanied by fever, you should visit an emergency clinic.
  • Does your child have a deep voice like a howling dog?

    • In this case, it is most important to avoid crying as much as possible.
    • It may be that it is worse at night than daytime. If symptoms are present from the daytime, you go for a medical visit earlier instead of waiting until late evening.
    • Even in the evening if it appears your child is comfortably falling asleep, you can wait until the next morning. However, if your child's voice is so faint that you can't hear it, you should go see a doctor.
  • Could your child have been eating something or have something in his/her mouth while playing?

    • Did your child suddenly start coughing uncontrollably (like choking on some liquid) when there was nothing just a few moments before? If the cough stops after a short period of time, then there may be nothing to worry about. But if the cough continues, you should go see a doctor.
    • At the hospital, be sure to mention that the cough started suddenly.
    • Particularly, if your child has been eating bean-type things such as peanuts, you should go see a doctor.
